All work and no play will leave you stressed out and unable to enjoy the life that you are working so hard to cultivate. Here are a few tips on how to make sure you have a healthy work/life balance.
Reserve the weekends for the family. If you let work dominate your weekends, you'll be headed for a burn out. Commit to the weekends being for your family or significant other. It’s important for the important people in your life, including yourself, to know that there is time being dedicating for bonding and relaxing.
Plan your week. As best you can, make sure to map out how you think your week needs to go. By sitting down to identify errands, doctors appointments, work related assignments that are due and meetings in advance, you avoid the imminent stress of having to figure things out on the fly. This is also a great way to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks which in turn, you guessed it, creates more stress for your life.
Work smarter. You know yourself better than anybody. What's your body clock? Are you a morning person? Do you work better at night? If you get more done in the morning, perhaps you should begin working earlier in the day. That way you can get off earlier and beat the traffic home, thus saving you time and affording you extra time do things for yourself like workout or finish up on reading that book you can’t seem to get through.
